The Department of Bioinformatics was established on January 1, 2006, with the basic philosophy of "For the smiles of patients and their families".
Dr. Kenichi Fukui, a Nobel prize laureate in Chemistry who had created fundamental insights into chemical reactivity, was trying to say, "With the development of computers, large computational theories were introduced into the research field of chemistry, which helped us to understand empirical facts in a non-empirical way. However, theory has only half the advantage if you must do all the calculations to understand it. Theory must continually generate concepts that will help drive experimental chemistry forward".
Therefore, we are addressing the question "What is life?" by using mathematical sciences to develop basic medicine and enhance clinical medicine.
