The goal of the Department is to provide instructional and practical expertise enough to cultivate “professional researchers in immunology” on a global basis. Students have opportunities to learn how to proceed a research in stimulating and collaborative environments through joint researches with national and international institutes. The members of the departments have diverse backgrounds ranged from clinical doctors to a technician in chemistry, but share the same goals to promote translational researches on allergic disorders and cancers. We have been interested in the research field of “T cell memory.” Our department is perfect for the candidates with interests in both basic and clinical immunology, especially who wants to have career development in international settings.
The Doctoral Course at the Department of Immunology, Chiba University is a four-year program. Candidates should acquire at least 30 credits from course work within 4 years and submit a doctoral dissertation. Candidates should obtain at least 14 credits from the lectures of the Field including 6 credits from special research classes. After passing the dissertation defense and the final examination, a successful student will be given a degree of “Doctor of Philosophy.
