Prof. Yano and Associate Prof. Fumie Aosai were invited as symposists and presented the papers entitled " Roles of INF-gamma in effector mechanisms and pathogenicity of HSPs in mice and humans infected with Toxoplsma gondii" and " HSC70-mediated antigen presentation and ex-vivo gene vaccination with SAG1 to Toxoplasma gondii-infection", respectively.
Prof. Yano organized the 4th Japan-Korea Parasitology Seminar held on August 28-30, 1998, at Makuhari Prince Hotel with the suport of Chiba University, the Japan Science Promotion Society, and the Cell Science Foundaition. More than 100 participants including President of Chiba University, Kaichi Isono, the Director Division of Control of Tropical Diseases WHO, Dr. Kazem Behbehani, 32 scientists from Korea, and the representatives of Malaysia( Prof. Khairul Anuar bin Abdullah), Philippines ( Prof. Benjamin Cabrera) and Thailand( Prof. Jitra Waikaguhl) attended the International Seminar. The proposal of the establishment of Asian Parasitologist Association has obtained their concent. Twelve symposists presented scientific papers of basic, clinical and epidemic data of parasitic diseases.
