DNA research and testing requires the prevention of contamination and the maintenance of a consistent level of air purity. A modest ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the installation of a clean room recently constructed for this purpose.

A booklet recording the history of the Department in the ten years since the appointment of Professor Hirotaro Iwase has been published. It collects the sentiments of the Department members on subjects such as the transformation of post-mortem examinations, testing, teaching, and research over the past decade, as well as recounting the Department’s response to the Great East Japan Earthquake.
