The number of autopsies reached 10,000.

As a result of the autopsy on October 15th, 2019, the number of autopsies performed at the Department of Legal Medicine, Chiba University, had reached 10,000. In 1928, the department was established at the predecessor Chiba Medical University, and the first judicial autopsy was performed. However, at that time, the number of autopsies was small, and it was in 2008 that the number exceeded 200 cases per year. After that, last year (2018), the number exceeded 400 for the first time, reaching 10,000 on October 15, 2019.
On October 29th, 2019, we held a memorial festival at the nearby Chiba Temple for the bodies of the past.

Death Investigator (Inspector) Class Held

We run a death investigator (inspector) class twice a year in the center. About two weeks in mid-October, this fall class was held and 6 inspectors including police officers of Akita, Fukushima, Fukuoka, Oita, and Chiba Prefectural Polices participated. We hope that these police officers will make use of the information obtained from their studies here at the death investigation site.
